Submitted by witness on Thursday, July 27, 2006.
Daytime sighting by motorist close to Maine/New Brunswick border

YEAR: 2002

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: July

DATE: 28

PROVINCE: New Brunswick

COUNTRY: Canada

LOCATION DETAILS: head east from vanceboro maine toward mccadam new brunswick-to acton-toward fredericton n.b.

NEAREST TOWN: not sure--mc-cadam or york mills

NEAREST ROAD: the one we were on rt 4

OBSERVED: july 28-2002-we were headed toward maine -vanceboro maine.the check point between canada and maine-in the after noon maybe 2:00pm -a bright sunny day we had been traveling for a while in a remote part of rout 4 in canada -there had been no houses or light poles -pretty isolated area heavally wooded and we -i was driveing -my wife was sorta resting her eyes i came around a long sweeping curve on the 2 lane hot top road -and i couldnt belive what i was seeing crossing the road it was taking a step just off the yellow line in the middle of the road headed into the woods -i looked at my wife in the passenger seat-and her eyes were closed -i could not say a word i was in such disbelife at what i was seeing-i watched it take about 7 steps aprox into the woods out of sight-when it was going down the shoulder of the road i noticed it kept the same gate which i thought then was unusual -like a human kinda goes down slopes different -i also noticed no neck-the muscles in the side of its upper thigh -and the redish brown hair all over its body-its arms were out in front of it bent at the elbow straight out in front of it it never looked at us and kept focused as where it was headed sorta looking down ahead as to where it was stepping-

ALSO NOTICED: at the time i saw this thing there was a maroon or redish olds mobile like 1980s era on the right side of the shoulder parked in the grass no one around it - i was a little nervous at the time i remember because i thought maybe it was some one there to hold up a passer by or something because it was so isolated-and i was more focused on the car as we aproached it-and when i looked back at the road again there it was walking across the road -in the middle of the road going to the right side

OTHER WITNESSES: none

OTHER STORIES: no but i told the customs men about what i saw and i asked if they had any one say they had seen anything like what i saw -they said no but they kinda looked at each other sorta like they didnt belive me-i really cant blame them for that because i still have a hard time i saw it to-the reason i remember the date was it was the day after my daughters wedding in fredericton n.b.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: early afternoon-sunny bright

ENVIRONMENT: the area i saw this thing was verry well wooded and swampy area-no land marks that i remember-just the long radius curve

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Todd Prescott:

Spoke with witness on February 24, 2009. Witness resides in Arizona. He was driving back from Fredericton, New Brunswick, where he and his wife had attended their daughter's wedding. They were heading west on Route 3 when the witness noticed a red or maroon vehicle pulled over on the side of the road up on the grass. Witness kept an eye on the vehicle, unsure of why it was pulled over, and seemingly abandoned. As he approached the vehicle, whilst maintaining the speed limit, he kept an eye on the vehicle. He looked back to the road in front of him, and surprisingly, saw an upright figure in the middle of the road up ahead of him. The road was a straight, flat stretch at that point, but witness was unsure of original distance from him to the creature when he first spotted it. As he approached the creature, it was moving from south to north from the middle of the road. Witness could not determine the gender of the creature, its height or weight. He did mention during our phone conversation that he felt it may have been a foot or two taller than a man. He commented that it seemed rather tall.

He felt that the creature was 'well-built' - not fat, but muscular and evenly proportioned for its height. The hair/fur appeared neat in appearance, but not thick or dense. Witness thought that he had noticed patches where the skin showed through (the skin appeared dark in color). The creature's head was facing down as it walked, and consequently, witness did not notice any facial features, and no neck was visible.

The muscles of the creature's thighs and legs were visible as it crossed over the road and proceeded to transverse the ditch. Witness was surprised that the creature's gait and movement did not change as it walked down into the ditch. Movement was natural - not forced or awkward.

Witness believes that the distance from the edge of the road to the tree line is approximately 30ft. He remembers the area as being a bit boggy/swampy and well-endowed with forest cover.

Witness' wife did not see the creature. She was told later about the incident.

During our phone conversation, the witness did not stray from the details of his submitted report. He thought for a moment during the sighting that perhaps someone was playing a joke on him. However, as he watched the creature, and witnessed the muscles expanding and contracting, as well as its unusual descent down into the ditch, it became apparent to him that it was a not a human, but rather a unique bipedal creature synonymous with other descriptions of bigfoot/sasquatch.
