Submitted by Tom Akren on Monday, July 15, 1996.
Former Highway patrol officer witnesses a Sasquatch cross the road behind him.

YEAR: 1996

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: June

STATE: Idaho

COUNTY: Kootenai County

LOCATION DETAILS: Near Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai County Idaho on Highway 95 - possibly only 5 to 10 miles north of Hayden Idaho.

NEAREST TOWN: Hayden Idaho

NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 95

OBSERVED: The witness is a retired California Highway Patrol Officer.

Witness says he was driving northbound on Highway 95 from Coeur d'Alene, headed for a business appointment in Bonner's Ferry, a town about 80 miles north of Coeur d"Alene. This occurred last summer in the early morning hours. Possibly on a Sunday. He was in an area near Coeur d'Alene, possibly only 5 to 10 miles north of Hayden Idaho. He happened to look in his  rearview mirror of his car, and saw this large unidentified man looking creature walking across the roadway just behind his vehicle.

ALSO NOTICED: Witness did turn his vehicle around and went back to where this creature had crossed the highway. It had disappeared into the thick vegetation

OTHER STORIES: Also, I [Tom Akren] have reports of hearing what might have been a Bigfoot in an area about 10 miles west of Bonner's Ferry. Also reports of seeing track in an area east of Beauty Bay, on Lake Coeur d'Alene, up towards the mountain just east of this location.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: The early morning hours. Just driving northbound in his vehicle.

ENVIRONMENT: This particular area is heavily wooded flat land.  There are homes in the general area, but not right in this vicinity.
