Possible tracks in snow east of Humptulips (w/photo)

YEAR: 2008

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: March

DATE: 30th

STATE: Washington

COUNTY: Grays Harbor County

LOCATION DETAILS: Please keep private

NEAREST TOWN: humptulips

NEAREST ROAD: olympic highway 109, donkey creek rd

OBSERVED: yesterday me and 3 friends went drivin around in the woods
looking for some 4x4 trails up the east hoquiam road.
we were drivin for over an hour and started running into snow,
it was about a foot deep. then as we were drivin up this hill my
friend driving in front of stopped suddenly right at the same time
i seen some deep impressions in the snow on the side of the road. we got out and took a look and there was about 6 footprints in the
snow, i wear a size 13 boot and it was about 5-6" longer than my foot. the tracks went into the brush and stopped, so i snapped
a few pictures and then we drove on up the hill. we got to the
top and my friend yelled at me and said there was more tracks,
but then said they were just human tracks so i didnt bother going
up there just yet. there was a deep canyon below us that was clear
cut, i keept scanning the hills hoping somthing would move but no
luck. i started walking up to where my friend was and noticed the
tracks he told me about and i started following them. (they followed
the edge of the landing then cut back and went up the hill then
stopped and came back down the hill), as i got to the top of the hill
i noticed one of the tracks i could see a distinct toe print, then
after that i noticed the length of the stride between the steps, it
was about 4ft. i yelled at my friend to come back up here these
are not human tracks. i showed him the distance between each step, it took me three regular walking steps to equal one stride
from the bigfoot tracks. i know these are not made from a human,
it would be impossible for someone to make these tracks with the
length of stride it had. the tracks were to clean. i tried to take a step
that big and i could barely reach that far. im 6'2, i had to stretch my
legs as far as i could and i still wasn't quite there. i have several
pictures if your interested in seeing them.

ALSO NOTICED: while i followed the tracks on the landing i noticed that it stopped to
urinate on its way down the hill...there was a big yellowish spot in the
snow

OTHER WITNESSES: 4 including me, we were driving down the road, then we pulled up
to the landing and got out of the trucks

OTHER STORIES: ive had a couple of incidents in the same area..i already
posted those incidents.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: it was about 2pm, cloudy most of the day but when we found the
tracks the sun was coming through, it had snowed/hailed earlier
in the day. there was about 1ft of snow on the ground

ENVIRONMENT: it was on top of a mountain on the side of the road and on a landing,
it was steep terrain with clear cuts, dog hairs, and tall timber
all around

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator David W Ellis:

I spoke with the witness recently. He was pleasant and eager
to talk about what he and his friends found. As stated they
were driving on Logging roads East of Humptulips enjoying
the afternoon when our witness saw impressions along side of
the road. Curious he stepped out and saw a track line of about
six to seven impressions. They were large in size and this
piqued his curiosity. He also noted that the stride length was
larger than what it would be for a normal sized person.
The track line appeared to head off up the hill side. He was able
to put his hands inside the impressions and discovered five toes.
He noted something interesting. The toes were not visible from
the top of the impression, they were inside. He got the notion
that whatever made these impressions was walking Toe/Heel
not Heel/Toe. The other interesting observation the toes
were pointed straight down in a digging fashion. Apparently
this creature was digging in with its toes, as it walked up the
slight incline.

His friend then went further up the road and above the witness
and found more prints. This track line was longer and had
more than thirty impressions. I asked if they could determine
anything from the tracks. What was it doing? Were there
other animal tracks? Was it following something else? They did
not note anything of importance. It just came up the ridge and
into the tree line from the landing area. It wasn’t until they both
saw the stride length that they determined these tracks were
not made by a person. Again they were able to determine
five toes.

He put his boot next to one of the tracks and took a picture.
I have included it below for scale. In our conversation I asked him
if he could measure his boot. He did and I was able to
determine the size of the impression. Give or take a little,
it is approximately 17” long, 8” wide at the ball, and 4-5/8”
at the heel. This is not an exact science due to the fact that
the Impression was made in snow. It does appear that the
track was exposed to the sun and there is some evidence
of melting. The snow fall had happened within the last
forty-eight hours. Our witness did take a picture showing
him attempting to create the same stride length. He could not
quite make the same stride. He told me that he is 6’2” tall. I
asked him if he could recreate the same stride length and
measure from heel of back foot to heel of front foot. He did
and said that measurement was 54”. According to the picture
he sent me the stride is slightly longer than that.

One last curious notation, in one of the pictures he sent me it
looks like something urinated. There is a dark orange hole in
the snow. Much darker than what would be normal for a person.
Our witness has had three other curious encounters those
are documented -- Report #1131.

with the witness known boot size showing scale
