Submitted by witness L. B. on Wednesday, July 10, 2002.
Family hears late night vocalizations near Lake McCumber

YEAR: 2002

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: June

DATE: 26

STATE: California

COUNTY: Shasta County

LOCATION DETAILS: off interstate five, turn towards Dutsches RD. that is next to the outlet stores in Redding.

NEAREST TOWN: Lake McCumber

NEAREST ROAD: east 44 (I think)

OBSERVED: It was about 3AM at Lake McCumber, California. I was with my mom, aunt and uncle, and my uncles son and daughter in law. My uncle and his son stayed up all night listening to the strange noise that was somewhere in the meadow. They had no idea of what animal it was, I did. I had heard this noise before. I woke up my mom who didn't want to hear it at all. I bet that the nieghbors across the meadow seen the creature, or at least heard it more clearer than us. This event happened June 26th of 2002.

ALSO NOTICED: The next morning a fawn was laying in the meadow, and had no mother.

OTHER WITNESSES: 4 witnesses. One was sleeping, two were on the deck chatting and listening to nature, and I was laying in bed with my 4 month old daughter.

OTHER STORIES: nope

TIME AND CONDITIONS: no moonlight because the moon was full earlier that evening. 3AM. Slightly cold.

ENVIRONMENT: There was a meadow, a creek, the lake up the road, lots of forest vegatation, lots of deer and wildlife.

--Witness believes it was just one individual, since a return call was not heard.
--Sound was not a mountain lion or dogs, but more human-like.
