OBSERVED: I was reluctant to even submit this. My husband is a firm believer in Bigfoot but I have always been a skeptic. We recently married our youngest daughter off and planned a long weekend trip to a cabin in Uncertain Texas, close to Caddo lake to recover.
We arrived on a Thursday, the cabin is one of two set on a corner lot with a large area of forest set behind it and though it was not lake front, the lake was not far. It was a small cabin with a screened in porch in back facing the forest. The forest extended back aways, my husband walked out there a bit but turned around when he encountered brush too thick to go through. On this day the other cabin was unoccupied.
It was about 3 pm when we arrived, after we brought in everything in, we left out again around 5pm to go to the nearby town of Jefferson to get groceries. We returned to the cabin around 6:30 to 7:00. I decided to sit out in the screened in porch as the sun was setting. I could hear a multitude of birds singing. I was enjoying the peaceful environment when I heard what I first thought was an owl hooting but it struck me strange because it almost sounded like a human making an owl sound if that makes sense. And the birds stopped singing when the sound was made. I didn’t think much of the sound at first and continued to sit and look at my phone which had poor cell reception in this particular area. Then I heard something strike the side of the cabin, below the screened in area and near me like a rock had been thrown at the cabin. I looked up but did not see anything. A feeling of unease settled over me and I started feeling really uncomfortable, so I went back inside and locked the door. I thought maybe something had fallen from a tree, but it hit the side of the cabin where I was and not the roof. The weather was still and there wasn’t any wind blowing. I chalked it up to hearing my husband tell too many tales and figured I was imagining things.
On Friday we spent most of the day away from the cabin except to fix lunch and head out again. We returned again late afternoon to settle in and make dinner. A couple that had rented the other cabin had arrived and were settling in. After dinner we turned on the TV and I was sitting in a glider chair that was located near the back wall of the cabin where the screened in porch is located. I don’t remember the time but I know it was dark outside when I heard what sounded like another rock hitting the back side of the cabin. Like yesterday the weather was mild with no wind. This exact same thing happened again on Saturday night, after dark, only this time it happened two to three times. I had not been back out on the screened in porch since the first night because that experience had really weirded me out.
Sunday morning comes and we are getting ready to leave around 8am. The other cabin occupants were also loading up to leave. My husband was carrying trash to the trash bin located in the front of the cabin when he heard a sound like something rustling around loudly behind the cabin. He looked up thinking it was one of the other cabins occupants back there but then he saw those people carrying stuff to their vehicle so that was ruled out. He walked behind the cabin to see if he could see anything, but nothing was there. As he turned around to come back he heard what sounded like someone striking a baseball bat on a tree coming directly from the woods behind the cabin. He looked again but saw nothing.
He started telling me about this on our way home and I disclosed what I had heard. He asked why I hadn’t said anything sooner and I replied I didn’t think it was significant at the time. That’s when he told me about other encounters such as mine that he had heard about from others including mimicking sounds and rock throwing. I’m not sure if it was really a Bigfoot encounter but thought I might put our experience out there. Thank you!
