LOCATION DETAILS: I entered Savoy Mountain State Forest from the south off of State Route 116 heading north.

OBSERVED: My wife and I were on a country drive in the northern Berkshires of Massachusetts on May 16, 2026. Because we both are interested in the Bigfoot phenomena, I decided to drive thru Savoy State Forest . There is a stretch of road where there is just nothing but woods. There was no traffic of any kind. I stopped the car and we sat for a few seconds. The terrain was a hillside, uphill was to my left and downhill was to my right. I decided to do a couple of whoops just to see what happens.

I did a good loud one facing downhill and immediately we heard a wood knock followed by an odd sounding vocalization. Sort of a whoop but odd with almost some kind of vocalization. (This is the best I can describe it.)

We were astonished. I made a second whoop facing uphill and a different “voice” started up. The first one was downhill from us but the second one was uphill. Both responses were not far away. The second one continued to vocalize making many different sounds and then made a wood knock. This got the first one active again. They were both vocalizing and then a dog in the very far distance started barking. This quieted the voices somewhat.

All this happened while both my wife and I were still in the car. I was going to exit the car but my wife became upset and asked me to get us out of there. As we are both in our 70’s, I decided that she was right.

The whole incident lasted about 5 minutes or so. Undeniably, a "Class B" experience -- vocalizations and wood knocks from 2 separate directions. All of the sounds were loud.

OTHER WITNESSES: 2. I had stopped the car, absolutely no other cars.

OTHER STORIES: I had heard of another 2 incidents at Savoy State Forest thru a Massachusetts Sasquatch YouTube video. It’s what made me take the road just to drive thru a squatchy area.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Approx 2:30pm. Bright sunshine. As it was Spring, the leaves on the trees were at most only about one third out. I could still see a good distance into the woods. The altitude of the spot is about 2,000 feet.

ENVIRONMENT: Mixed deciduous and pine. Wooded hillside. Hill descending from left to right. Visibility into the woods was still good due to the leaves not being out yet.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Jonathan Wilk:

I (Jon Wilk) received this report from the Berkshires of Massachusetts through BFRO. This incident occurred on May 16, 2026. A husband and wife were driving through the Berkshires sightseeing the areas they once live in. While driving through Savoy they decided to leave the main road. They were traveling one of the dirt roads inside Savoy State Forest. Both witness report being curious in regards to the Sasquatch topic. They had recently watched an episode of "Small Town Monsters" on YouTube where Savoy was highlighted.

While driving along a dirt road they decided to stop and pull off in an area that was very isolated. George noted how isolated they felt in that location. They sat in their car for several minutes with the windows down, listening to the sounds of the forest. They were hearing mainly birds and distant aircraft.

At one point, the wife, sitting in the passenger seat, did a “whoop” out of the window. She was facing East. They both immediately heard a wood knock followed by a loud vocal that they could not understand. They were both astonished. He did a whoop of his own. His was immediately answered by another whoop from the opposite side of the road, to the West. He then stated he heard a “voice” making a “vocabulary” that he could not understand. It went on for a bit and then another knock. He stated it was loud and close. He also stated a dog began to bark in the far distance.

At his wife's urging they left the area. The witness is a retired New York State worker and a retired military veteran officer who served in the Vietnam War, in Panama and the Persian Gulf. He was articulate and matter of fact during the interview. He stated his background with the Sasquatch topic is casual and intellectual.

I visited the site and located the exact spot. I conducted a very through grid search of both sides of the road. I located several possbile stick structures and well a few game trails. I also located a game camera mounted to a tree. I left my business card inside of it. I hope to hear from the owner.

While looking around I found several possible track impressions on the ground. These were probably 200 feet from the road. They were in no condition to be casted. I did take multiple eDNA samples of the impressions and surrounding areas.

This area is well known to me. The history of suspected encounters goes back about 100 years. I have personally had encounters in different parts of the Berkshire Mountains. The area also is close to the locations we filmed with Small Town Monsters and with Les Stroud. I plan to keep in touch with the witness and return to the site with him and some fellow investigators very soon.
