Report # 82711  (Class B)
Submitted by witness Michelle T on Monday, October 19, 2026.
Possible winter sighting of a sasquatch by hiker couple ~2 miles west of Manitou Springs

YEAR: 2023

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: December

DATE: 28th

STATE: Colorado

COUNTY: Teller County

LOCATION DETAILS: Rough estimate as to the area but would need to go back to the trail to point out the exact location.

[MM Note: This is GPS for where the witnesses were standing when they saw the figure near the railroad bed on the other side of the canyon. It is not the position of the figure.]

38.852476, -104.940108

NEAREST TOWN: Manitou Springs

NEAREST ROAD: Ruxton Ave

OBSERVED: My husband and I had just hiked up the incline on December 28th and got to the top around 2pm. We were hiking back down Barr trail after about a 30 minute break at the top.

On our way down when we got to the part of the trail where you can see the creek and the train tracks, we both saw a very large shadowy figure walking down on the other side of the tracks. We both stopped to look at each other to see if we had both witnessed the same thing, and then when we looked back the figure had completely disappeared. We both confirmed we had witnessed the same thing and weren’t insane. We were confused because there's no easy access over the creek, and no trail in the area we saw the figure.

We stood around for a few minutes to see if it would pop back up but it never did. We took a selfie with the area we had seen the figure in behind us but the shadowy figure is not seen in the picture. Just the location he appeared in. We didn't know about the BFRO and to report it until our sons told us about it so we are now making an official report.

ALSO NOTICED: It was very quiet and still. Cold and snowy. We only observed a very large shadowy figure walking in an obscure area that wasn't accessible by any trails which is what caught both of our attention and made us look at each other in disbelief.

OTHER WITNESSES: Just me and my husband. The trail was pretty empty that day because of the weather and time of day. We were hiking back down Barr Trail.

OTHER STORIES: We didn't hear about it at the time but after telling our sons about our experience they had informed us that we are actually in a hot spot for sightings. I didn't fully take their word on it until seeing it in the newspaper that there are sightings in the Pikes Peak area which made us even more confident in what we saw.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Roughly 3:25pm. When we started the hike it was sunny but when we saw the large figure on the way down it was overcast and snowy.

ENVIRONMENT: Mountain area with creek and trees near the cog railway tracks.
