Motorists on Hwy 182 observe a sasquatch five miles east of Park Falls
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2002

SEASON: Spring

DATE: April 21

STATE: Wisconsin

COUNTY: Price County

LOCATION DETAILS: About 5 miles East of Park Falls on Highway 182.

NEAREST TOWN: Park falls

NEAREST ROAD: Hwy 182

OBSERVED: It was the early afternoon on a beautiful Spring day. I was driving east on Highway 182 about 5 miles from Park Falls. My friend was in the car and observed it as well. We were headed to a tavern for a bite to eat and a drink.

The creature ran across the road in three or four long strides then headed south down a small embankment. There were no houses in the area.

What we observed was very tall, broad and hairy. It was not moving particularly fast and did not appear to be panicked about oncoming traffic. The creature's jog was a graceful "glide" only took about five seconds before it was gone. I even made the comment to my friend that it was Bigfoot.

We pulled over where we saw the creature and exited the car to look for prints but did not notice anything - there was no trail.

After we arrived at the tavern we told the regulars what we saw and no one believed us.

OTHER STORIES: No

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Early afternoon, approximately 1pm on a beautiful Spring day.

ENVIRONMENT: Forest. The creature was seen in an area between a river (Forest Rapids) and a lake (Blockhouse Lake).

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator B Breedlove:

I spoke with witness Karen Prohaska by phone. She was down to earth and credible. She seemed to be a normal Wisconsin citizen. She provided these additional details:

She and a friend both saw it. Unfortunately, the friend does not care to speak with an investigator.

Karen estimated that the creature was about seven feet tall and weighed at least 700 pounds.

It was muscular and appeared to be "very solid" and had long arms that moved as it was striding.

She was not sure if the hair was neat or matted, but it was brown and had long hair, perhaps a foot long. It was too far away to see facial details. There was no neck visible. It had hands rather than paws.

This area has much food sources and water, as well as many reports and stories from this county in the past.

She was sure it was not a bear and her account strongly indicates that.

She was sure it was not a hoaxer running across the road in a costume because a human is not so large nor runs with such grace.
