Roger Thacker, director of Northwest Trek, denies any connection with reported sightings of "a big, hairy thing" near the wild-game preserve near Eatonville, the Associated Press reported.
"I can assure you it was no put-on by us," Thacker said.
The Tacoma News Tribune reported a Fort Lewis soldier hiking near the area last week had to be treated for shock after seeing the creature. A Madigan Army Medical Center doctor said the man was "too unstable" to discuss the incident, but the soldier was sure he had seen "Bigfoot."
No such sightings had been reported to the Pierce County sheriff's office, deputies said.
