Vocalizations and wood knocks heard by fishermen near pond

YEAR: 2005

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: May

DATE: May 2005

STATE: Arkansas

COUNTY: White County

LOCATION DETAILS: i was following james to his house so i can't be sure but i can find out

NEAREST TOWN: BeBee, Arkansas

NEAREST ROAD: not sure, i'll have to check with james

OBSERVED: My friend James and I were fishing in one of his dad's ponds. We were frustrated that nothing was biting and had finally moved to the last of about 7 ponds. We had been there for about half an hour when we started hearing a whoop whoop sound and then some lound knocking like two tree trunks being banged together. We both made comments about what it might be but thought much of it. While I was browsing your site I found the recordings. I listened to the whoop and knock on that one recording and almost fell out of my chair. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE HEARD!!! The whoop and the knocks were identical to those sounds we heard just above and behind us. It was that far from us but there was a hill that kept us from seeing anything. It was completely wooded in the area the sound came from.

ALSO NOTICED: James and his dad have lived out there for their whole lives. He never mentioned anything about a bigfoot but when we heard the whoops, his first quistion was, "What the hell is that?" You would think that after living on a piece of property for 40 years you would pretty much know every sound made.

OTHER WITNESSES: James, we were both fishing and the fish hadn't been biting. right after the noises, the fish started biting and the sounds quite... they only lasted for about 10 minutes

OTHER STORIES: No, this was my first visit to the area.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Time was about 6pm. Temp was about 60 degrees. Clear weather

ENVIRONMENT: rolling hills, lot's of trees, lots of ponds. ground is pretty rocky except for around the ponds where it is pretty marshy. the pond we were at had a lot of swampy area around it but the sounds were coming from a large grove of trees behind us

Follow-up investigation report:

The witness stated there were approximately seven ponds and he and a friend fished their way back to the very last one closest to the woodline. He then stated they began to hear whoops and knocks of what sounded like heavy wood on wood back in the woodline. He stated after the whoops and knocks ceased the fish started to bite.

The witness states the whoops and knocking he and his friend heard sounded very much like this vocalization from the Sierra Sounds CD.
