Motorists Observe Creature Along Trans-Canada Highway
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2006

SEASON: Spring

MONTH: June

DATE: June 6

PROVINCE: New Brunswick

COUNTRY: Canada

NEAREST TOWN: Sackville

NEAREST ROAD: We were on New Brunswick #2

OBSERVED: My wife and I were driving from Moncton to Sackville on New Brunswick #2 in June 2006 in the afternoon and saw a figure walking across a clearing about a 100 yards away. It was all black, walked with long strides and arms out and we did not see any clothes such as a shirt or blue jeans. We could not see any facial features. It was about 4 to 5 PM. We tell our friends that since my wife and I seldom agree on anything, but do on this, it had to be Bigfoot.

ALSO NOTICED: No

OTHER WITNESSES: Just my wife and I

OTHER STORIES: When we returned home a friend of mine in the Optimist Club said he grew up in the area north of Fundy Bay and he was chased by a Bigfoot one time -in his youth.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: As per above about 4 to 5 PM.
It was a nice sunny day and we were looking southwest but the sun would have been high in the sky at that time.

ENVIRONMENT: The area alone the road was thickly wooded but with numerous open areas.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Todd Prescott:

I spoke with the witnesses separately on the phone at length on February 5th, 2008. The witnesses reside in Michigan on the Lower Peninsula. They were vacationing in the province of New Brunswick and had spent some time in an RV/trailer park close to Sackville. Between 4 & 5 pm, with clear skies above, they were heading north on Hwy #2 (also referred to as the Trans-Canada Highway at that point). They both spotted a large, bipedal creature walking across a clearing from the north to the south. The husband saw the creature for approximately five seconds. He was driving their vehicle, and consequently, wasn't able to discern many details about the creature, other than the following:

- creature moved in a casual manner (not fast, not slow),
- creature appeared between 6-7 feet in height, and
- creature was dark in color.

The passenger (the driver's wife) had a better opportunity to observe the creature for approximately ten seconds. Her observations are as follows:

- creature 'lumbered' along bipedally with an unusual, non-human gait (that is, its arms seemed proportionally longer than the typical arm/torso ratio as seen in humans and it appeared to take long strides),
- creature appeared at least 6-7 feet in height with a stocky/muscular build, and
- creature appeared to be covered in dark fur or hair.

Passenger is somewhat 'embarrassed' by the sighting. She has no doubt about what she saw, but is uncomfortable with the fact that she saw a creature resembling an upright ape traipsing across a field in New Brunswick.

Both witnesses felt that the path of the creature suggested that it was heading from one tract of forest to the next adjacent tract. It somewhat paralleled the couple as it traveled from the northeast to the southwest. No facial features were noted other than the passenger stating that "the face appeared all dark".

Adjacent to the aforementioned stretch of Hwy #2 is dense, mixed forest (primarily coniferous). Also, water sources are abundant in the immediate area (lakes, rivers and marshes).

About BFRO Investigator Todd Prescott:

Todd Prescott has been researching the subject of bigfoot for well over 20 years Todd attended the 2006 and 2008 B.C. Coastal Expeditions, 2008 and 2011 Pennsylvania Expedition, 2010 Pennsylvania Mini Expeditions, the 2007 Ontario Expedition and he hosted the Ontario 2009 Expedition. His research has taken him as far as Alaska to PA, Northern Ontario to BC, including a 2-week solo expedition throughout the Bella Coola (B.C.) region. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, Todd had the honor and privilege of spending many days/nights with one of the pioneers of sasquatch research, Mr. John Green (1927-2016), in BC where he was granted permission to peruse Mr. Green's extensive files dating back to 1957. Todd also had the unique experience of researching with Mr. Green near Harrison Hot Springs one evening. Currently, Todd is working on several books pertaining to the subject of sasquatch.
