Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator B.G. Martin:
I met the 72 year old witness in person during the course of an expedition to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The witness came across as concerned and worried about what he had seen eleven days before and was still anxious and restless about the whole experience. He had traveled 200 miles round trip with his wife to speak to us about his experience. He came across as a genuine and sincere person.
What he saw happened while he was cutting the neighbor’s lawn, which was out of town. Just as he began to cut the lawn at 1:00 PM on a sunny day he was going along the parameter of the lawn on a riding mower. Just after he made a left turn, straight in front of him 40 feet away was a large upright figure walking away from him. It took a few steps, crouched down, ducked under some bushes and stepped down into an area where there’s a ravine. His immediate thought was that he was looking at a Bigfoot. He turned the lawn mower off and went home.
He describes the figure he watched for 3 seconds as: 7 – 8 feet tall, 800 lbs and built like a gorilla. It had 4 foot wide shoulders with brown hair from the shoulders down and black chocolate colored hair from the shoulders up. I asked him if it had a neck. He said it didn’t look like it had a neck. He described the coat as “heavy”. He couldn’t see any facial features because it walked straight away from him. He wasn’t able to see below the small of its back because it was obscured by ferns and berry bushes. He wasn’t sure where it was before he saw it, and asked me if Bigfoot climbs trees. I told him, “Yes”. He said, “It could have dropped out of the trees.”.
In a follow up phone conversation with the witness I asked him how sure he could be about the weight. He said that he used to raise pigs and that it “weighed more than two 300 lb sows”. He also added that he was out on a logging road by his home and he saw a tall dark figure watching him from 100 yards away and then it ducked into the woods. He was certain it was the same thing he saw when he was cutting the lawn. He said if he hadn’t had the lawn cutting incident he wouldn’t have known what was watching him from 100 yards away.
