Possible nighttime road crossing on HWY 528 outside Orlando
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
COUNTY: Orange County
LOCATION DETAILS: I saw it on the side of the road just before you enter the first toll plaza.
NEAREST TOWN: Orlando east of the airport
NEAREST ROAD: 528 or called Beachline toll road
OBSERVED: Hey guys and Lady,
My name is xxx and I have never seen a Bigfoot or Sasquatch. I do however believe that something could be out there. May 23rd (2013) at around 11:30 pm I was on my way to the Orlando Airport to pick up my son-in-law. I was on the Beach Line or 528 toll road. I had slowed down due to his flight being delayed and it had been raining when I saw something moving from the side of the road toward the fence and pasture land.
It is not unusual to see deer, wild turkeys and from time to time hogs even on this busy road, however this was none of the above. What I saw was very large, hunched over, and moving quickly toward the wire fence and was a greyish color and the hair was longer, so it was not a loose cow or large hog. I was close enough to see the size and it was big, I cannot tell you how tall it was only a guess. I have heard about The Skunk Ape but again never seen anything and I don't go out looking for one, I just know what I saw.
There is a lot of wet land and swamp land close to the Orlando International Airport and The Beach Line is a major toll road that connects the east cost of our area to I-4 in Orlando.
OTHER WITNESSES: No, just me, but I know what I saw, I travel this road very often and this was way out of the ordinary. As I said in the above, you will see deer, wild turkeys, hogs at dusk, but nothing like this.
OTHER STORIES: For years I have heard about unusual sightings, dead livestock found by hunters. I would like to know what it was. It was not a hunter or poacher, too big to be a hog. we do have bears here, but they are black bears.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: Night time around 11:30 pm some highway lights it had been raining.
ENVIRONMENT: In between I-95 and before you get too close to the airport there is a great deal of cattle land that is adjacent to the St. Johns River some areas are swamp land.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator R. Monteith:
The witness, a pastor, stated that it had rained earlier, the roads were slick and he was traveling around 50 MPH on his way to the airport.
He was about two miles from the first toll booth when he saw a very large, silver colored creature about 10 feet from the road. The road does not have street lights, he was the only car and he had his high beams on. The sighting is very close to a power-line road that runs parallel to the St. John’s River.
He slowed down further when he saw what was on the road ahead of him. He describes it as something totally out of the ordinary as he knows it was not a bear, cow, deer, hog or human. It had shoulders, “wider than any body builder” he’s ever seen. It had a very large, broad back and was heading away from the road toward the fence. It appeared to be bent over at the waist, or possibly moving quadruped. It was on the north side of the road, moving as if it had come from the south. (Left to right.) It was totally silver in color, with hair that appeared to be coarse and just a few inches long. It was moving extremely fast, and about 10-15 feet from the shoulder of the road. The pastor assures me that it was far larger than any bear or gorilla he has seen in the zoo.
Google earth image of the location:
The area is a heavy traveled highway, and it goes through remote forest and wetlands. The area to the north is a wildlife management area bordering the St. Johns River area that has been the source of several recent reports. See reports #36004, #30679 and #38764.
