YEAR: 2005

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: January

DATE: Jan 10,Monday

STATE: Oklahoma

COUNTY: Comanche County

LOCATION DETAILS: From Lawton,Ok, go west on Hwy 62, take Cache exit
go south on Hwy 115,until you get to intersection of old Hwy 62, go west about 1 1/4 mi, turn right, on Quannah Rd, go down about 3/4 of mi, house on left or west side of road.

NEAREST ROAD: Quannah road

OBSERVED: My friend and I were leaving her house. We decided to check out a tree in her yard that we thought we had seen something in about 2 weeks before. The tree was about 60 yards from her house and close to the road. We drove down to the tree and I had my bright lights on and was about 50 ft away from the tree. We saw something huge and white sitting on a branch of the tree. I saw the head and shoulders. The shoulders were broad and it didn't look like it had a neck. My friend saw two legs dangling down. The legs were hairy and were moving. The head and shoulders were moving slightly back and forth like it was getting ready to jump down. My friend screamed and shouted "go, go, go". I was in shock, but managed to put the car in reverse and backed out as fast as I could and drove off. I called my brother on my cell phone and my friend called her mother and told her not to come out of the house.

ALSO NOTICED: As stated above, we had previously thought we had seen something in the tree about 2 weeks before this incident.

OTHER WITNESSES: 2 witness, self and my friend, we were getting ready to go shopping in Lawton,Ok.

OTHER STORIES: There have been reports of people seeing something run across the road and people have heard screams coming from the creek.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 8:30 PM, cloudy, about 45 degrees,

ENVIRONMENT: In country, house located between two creeks, trees and dense undergrowth on sides of roads, pastures and cultivated fields on both sides of roads, tall grass near house.

Follow-up investigation report:

The sighting occurred near a creek that flows out of the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge, along with the Ft. Sill Military Reservation, is located immediately to the north of Cache. These areas provide a very large area of essentially uninhabited mountainous terrain, which support large populations of deer, elk and bison. We drove to the upper reaches of this drainage and hiked for a mile or so.

Thanks to M. Berger and R. Taylor for their assistance with the follow-up investigation and on-site visit.
