Late night road side sighting near Tonto Creek
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2006

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: November

DATE: 17

STATE: Arizona

COUNTY: Gila County

LOCATION DETAILS: after Payson, in the Little Green Valley area, where the divided highway merges together, just before you start heading up the rim.

NEAREST TOWN: Payson

NEAREST ROAD: highway 260

OBSERVED: It was standing on the side of the road, as if it was waiting to cross. It was standing next to a large diamond road sign that I believe is about 7 feet tall. It was taller than the sign by a head, making it about 8 feet tall. It was illuminated by the side lights on my car, so I didn't see much definition in the face, but I saw a good outline of the head, and I saw a distinct large head that was not particularly pointed, but was sloping. The shoulders were massive and boxy. The arms were long and hung down to the knees. It was light colored, almost the color of the oak leaves in the fall. The hair was short, about 3-4 inches long, and normal in distribution-it was not bushy. I say "it" because I didn't notice any anatomy.

ALSO NOTICED: It was an hour before I could talk and wake up my husband. He said I must have seen a tree or bush and imagined it. We had to go back to the valley the next week, so when we drove past that spot, we checked. There was no tree, no bush, and no sign that any brush had been cut down or dug up. Besides, trees don't have hair and shoulders.

OTHER WITNESSES: No, my husband and kids were all asleep. The traffic was very light due to the time of night and it being Saturday night.

OTHER STORIES: There are many stories of the "mollogon man", but other than the BFRO reports, I have not heard of anything recent. However, in the Greenspeak area, near Springerville, My family goes camping alot. Several years ago, my little brother swears he saw something looking in the camper window(which is about 8 feet off the ground) and I have heard screams about the same time.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: about midnight or 12:30, the weather was clear and crisp. It had been a little breezy, but otherwise a beautiful fall day. My car has very bright side lights in addition to the headlights. when there are no other cars around, this really lights up the area.

ENVIRONMENT: Pine and cedar forest, with lots of scrub oak. It is at the bottom of the Arizona Rim.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator TF Zamiski:

I spoke with this witness on 3/12/08.

Little Green Valley is not the true location name, it was between Star Valley and Tonto Creek along 260.

This was a very brief sighting. She was just able to catch a quick glimps as she drove by. There was only enough time to see the basic shape, light colored hair and it was standing about ten feet off the road. She was able to go back to the area later to see that there isn't anything around to have mistaken for what see saw.
