Motorist reports 3am road crossing sighting on Hwy 40 across Tennessee River from Scottsboro (Show Printer-friendly Version) YEAR: 2012 SEASON: Spring MONTH: April DATE: 8th STATE: Alabama COUNTY: Jackson County LOCATION DETAILS: 34.646359 -85.948373 NEAREST TOWN: Scottsboro NEAREST ROAD: Was on Hwy 40 halfway up the mountain OBSERVED: Was driving up Hwy 40 in Scottsboro going up the mountain around 3am from taking a friend home after Easter cookout. It was clear skies and warm night. As I was going up about half up the mountain there is a sign that indicates curve ahead. As I got close to it I was thinking it may have been a full trash bad someone had propped up against sign post. As I got within 30-50yards from I saw movement and what I thought was a trash bag stood up on two feet completely covering the sign as I got closer it took two-three steps in front of my vehicle and was completely across to the other side of a two lane road and took another step crossing a guard rail and out of sight going down the mountain towards the Tennessee River. I got to the top and turned around and went back to where I saw the creature but didn’t see anything so continued on making my way back home. ALSO NOTICED: n/a OTHER WITNESSES: I was driving and wife was in the front passenger seat asleep since it was so early in the morning OTHER STORIES: No TIME AND CONDITIONS: Incident occurred around 3am. It was a clear warm night with clear skies and bright moon ENVIRONMENT: Mountain side heavily forested on both sides of the road with a traffic sign indicating a curve ahead.
