(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2026
SEASON: Summer MONTH: August DATE: 23 STATE: Kentucky COUNTY: Larue County LOCATION DETAILS: There is a small public gravel road of off Howardstown Rd called River Rd. It's not far from Rolling Fork WMA. NEAREST TOWN: Hodgenville NEAREST ROAD: River road OBSERVED: Me and a couple of friends was riding a back road close to my house called River Road. We stopped and got out of our vehicles to look around at the lookout when we heard what sounded like a distant knock. We stood for about 20 seconds in dead silence. One of my friends said "Whistle or howl. It could be a Bigfoot." So Iet out a long whistle. We got a response back with what sounded like sticks or tree saplings being broken so we jumped back in the vehicles.
We went further down the road so we could turn back around. On our way back we stopped again at the lookout to see if we could hear something. We wasn’t going to get out this time. I shined a spotlight into the woods and was just looking. I seen around 40 yards away from the truck a black hairy figure that was so dark I couldn’t see it until it moved. It was around 7 to 8 feet tall. Its back was turned to me but it slightly turned to us as if it was checking to see if we was still there. The outline of the face was ape like with the cone kinda shaped head and a yellowish green eye shine. At that moment I told my friend to get out of there. He floors it. ALSO NOTICED: We had been there plenty of times with no problems OTHER WITNESSES: There were 3 of us and I whistled back to the tree knocks OTHER STORIES: We have heard stories of other people such as coon hunters who have had hounds disappear during the night and finding the tracking collars hanging in trees where there are no people anywhere around TIME AND CONDITIONS: Around 10pm at night ENVIRONMENT: Lots of rolling hills and knobs with a rivers and creeks and crop feilds in the bottoms like soybeans and corn
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Charlie Raymond:
I interviewed the witness, Clayton, via Zoom. See link below to the recorded Zoom interview. He described a nighttime Bigfoot encounter in rural Larue County, Kentucky, near Howardstown Road (Kentucky Route 84).
While riding back roads with a few friends, at approximately 9:00-10:00PM under a clear sky and full moon, he illuminated a figure standing about 50-60 yards away inside the tree line with a bright hunting light. He estimated it at 7-8 feet tall, with an extremely bulky build, 3 to 3.5-foot-wide shoulders, a thick chest, very short thick neck, and jet-black, long, somewhat flowing hair, with wirey hair around the shoulders.
The creature appeared hunkered down with its arms tucked close to its body, initially keeping its back toward them as though attempting to remain hidden. When the light struck it, it briefly turned its shoulders and upper body to look back toward the truck, revealing bright greenish-yellow eyeshine, a somewhat conical/elongated head, and a protruding, gorilla-like face that was longer than a human face but without a true muzzle.
The facial area appeared dark brown compared with the black body hair. Clayton observed mostly the upper body and said the entire visual encounter lasted only about five seconds before fear prompted them to drive away. Approximately 10 minutes before the sighting, the group had also heard two apparent wood knocks, with the second occurring noticeably closer after Clayton responded to the first sound with a long whistle.
I found the witness credible. His story remained consistent form his online submission, text messages, initial phone call and his video interview. The creature's physical description and behavior (return tree knocks, trying to hide/avoid the light) are typical. Agreeing to a video interview, he has more to risk (ridicule from his buddies), than the reward (attention).
I have documented many sightings in the surrounding counties and have had personal interactions with possible Bigfoots in those counties as well.
