Road crossing sighting outside Cleveland - St. Rt. 82 near the CVRA
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 1995

SEASON: Winter

MONTH: March

DATE: 11

STATE: Ohio

COUNTY: Summit County

LOCATION DETAILS: route 82 or Brecksville Rd in Sagamore Hills by Marcs. It is located close to Route 8 which is off of 480, the Ohio turnpike or 77N.

NEAREST TOWN: Sagamore Hills

NEAREST ROAD: Route 82/Brecksville Rd.

OBSERVED: I know of a friend who saw a bigfoot behind Boston Mills Ski Resort in the Cuyahoga National Recration Area in 1990. He faced it and described it as the pictures others have scripted. I saw a bigfoot in 1995, in the evening, at around 9 p.m., running. It was at least 7 ft tall, hairy, and fast....in a weird way.

I saw it running across route 82 in Sagamore Hills Ohio. It was running along the bike path which is located near a small Plaza with a Marcs located in it. It was dark, but I know it couldn't be human and it wasn't a bear, for it was more upright. It ran too fast and was too tall for it to be a man. It was hairy, but we were driving 45, so I can't get detailed. I think you should look into observing the CVNRA, especially behind Boston Mills Ski Resort. Start at Blue Hen Falls.

OTHER WITNESSES: 2 of us. We were driving home from a nice dinner in Cleveland.

OTHER STORIES: Yes, someone ran into one behind Boston Mills. He turned around and ran as fast as he could back to Boston Mills. He wasn't followed by the animal.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: raining and cold, around 9-9:30, dark and in a fairly dark area, although there are some street lights and a shopping plaza further ahead. Much of the surrounding area is protected; it is part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreational Area. I think this incident happened in Summit County on the border of Cuyahoga County.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Mark Maisel:

I spoke to the witness by phone.

The sighting took place in late winter possibly in the month of March. It was raining at the time of the sighting. The sighting lasted approximately thirty seconds. The animal was running across the road and the witness was within ten feet at the closest while traveling by car. They stopped after the animal passed in front of their car and backed up to watch it continue running up the bike path. It never stopped and they watched it until they could not see it anymore.

The witness describes the animal as over seven feet tall, muscular, thick and broad. She saw the animal in profile as it ran across the road so she was unable to describe any facial features, although she did state that it had a conical shaped head with little or no neck. It was dark brown in color.

She was unable to describe the running style except to say, "that it was unlike anything I have ever seen". When asked to elaborate she was unable to describe it any further.

The area has a history of sightings which include another sighting on this path to the north. The Cuyahoga National Recreation Area is close by, as is the Cuyahoga River.

Food sources are plentiful in this area. There is large amount of deer and other animals in Cuyahoga Valley. This region also has the highest number of traffic accidents involving deer.

Ohio has a deer overpopulation problem, in large part because of the amount of corn and other crops grown there.
