Fisherman on Lake Arthur startled by series of possible wood knocks and rock clacks
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2015

SEASON: Spring

STATE: Pennsylvania

COUNTY: Butler County

LOCATION DETAILS: I was actually on my boat on the lake at the time. If needed I can give almost exact locations using Google Earth or another map.

NEAREST ROAD: Route 528 and Route 422

OBSERVED: While fishing on Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park I heard wood knocks and rock clacks. It seemed that they were answering each other. I would hear 2 wood knocks then maybe 10 seconds later, to the west about 200-300 yards I would hear 3 rock clacks. This sequence continued for about 8-10 minutes. The sounds stopped when a boat went past mine.

I do believe in Bigfoot, I always have. However this is the first time that anything like this has happened to me. It disturbed me so much that I started up my boat and moved to another part of the lake.

OTHER WITNESSES: No other witnesses, I was alone.

Small clouds mostly sunny about 50 degrees.

ENVIRONMENT: I was on a lake but the sounds were coming from a hillside beside the lake. The hillside is made up of mixed hardwood forest.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Tom F:

I spoke with the witness over the phone and gathered a strong sense that the experience, though not visual in nature, was life changing for him. It was mid morning on a beautiful spring day in Moraine State Park. While sitting in his boat about 30-40 yards from the shore line, the witness heard what sounded like two distinct wood knocks coming from an unpopulated forest back on shore. Shortly after the wood knocks three rock clacks could be heard about 300 yards west of his location. This back and forth exchange happened for about 10 minutes in a consistent and repetitive nature.

There were only a couple other boats on the water at the time. The witness was alone and the experience caused the hair on the back of his neck to stand up. He said, "I didn't necessarily feel like I was being watched, but I felt like I didn't belong there either."

The witness has returned to the location since this incident and has noted that the area is more heavily overgrown with brush since then denoting that little to no human activity is occurring in this particular location.

About BFRO Investigator Tom F:

Tom is a business owner, pastor, father and husband who makes his home in Pittsburgh, PA. In August 2012, during a BFRO expedition in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Tom was part of a small group of people paralleled by a sasquatch. His incident was so compelling it was featured on Animal Planet's Finding Bigfoot Super Yooper episode. The encounter changed his life, causing the former skeptic to embark on a personal mission to learn more about this rare and mysterious species. After a few years of personal research in known sasquatch hot spots, investigations of sighting reports, and leading/educating groups on the subject matter, Tom is proud to be a part of the BFRO team.
