Road crossing sightings of a bigfoot on different days 35 miles NW of Myrtle Beach
(Show Printer-friendly Version)
YEAR: 2026
SEASON: Winter MONTH: January DATE: January 16 & 18 STATE: South Carolina COUNTY: Florence County LOCATION DETAILS: Approximately 3.1 miles west of the SC 41/51 and SC 341 intersection. NEAREST TOWN: Johnsonville SC NEAREST ROAD: SC 341 (Lake City Highway) OBSERVED: In the early afternoon on January 16, 2026, I was traveling west with a friend on SC 341 (Lake City Highway), going from Johnsonville, SC to Lake City, SC. As we approached the first of two bridges over Lynches River, my friend exclaimed, "Did you see that!" I turned my head to see what she had seen. My friend saw it better, but it was a bipedal being with black hair, quickly crossing the road, left to right, as we passed. It was about 6' tall and crossed the road in 3-4 steps, then went down a sharp embankment into a swampy pine forest thicket. We were surprised at the speed with which it crossed the road and disappeared into the pine forest.
In the late morning on January 18, 2026, another friend was traveling on the same road in the same direction and saw a being standing by the road, similar to the being I witnessed two days earlier: a 6' tall, black haired bipedal being standing beside the road. It turned and went down a sharp embankment into a swampy pine forest thicket. ALSO NOTICED: Nothing in particular. OTHER WITNESSES: A total of three witnesses on two different occasions. All three were traveling out of Johnsonville, SC toward Lake City, SC. OTHER STORIES: None in this area. TIME AND CONDITIONS: The first sighting occurred in the early afternoon. The second sighting occurred in the late morning. The weather was clear both days. ENVIRONMENT: Pine swamp area and Lynches River overflow with fields. Two small bridges on SC 341, heading west out of Johnsonville, SC.
Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Bill Hanna:
Though both sightings were quick observances, the witnesses were quite specific in what they observed. The primary witness is a 30-year police veteran, trained to make such observations in a short period. She was sure of what she observed and described it in detail. The witness impressed me as being quite credible.
The area is a mixture of swamps, thick pine forests, open waterways, grazing areas and agricultural fields. This mixture of environments provide sufficient food, water and cover for large and small animals, and it very suitable as bigfoot habitat.
