While riding horse, man has mid-day sighting
(Show Printer-friendly Version)

YEAR: 2003

SEASON: Summer

MONTH: July

STATE: Texas

COUNTY: Montgomery County

LOCATION DETAILS: Small ponds scattered through out the hunting lease.

NEAREST TOWN: Cut-n-Shoot

NEAREST ROAD: N. Walker Rd. that crosses F.M. 105

OBSERVED: Well in my case just a visual sighting. I was a good distance away so I didnt hear any sounds.

In the summer of 2003 I had an experience that will for ever be burned in the front of my mind. I was with some family members and a friend, we had went horse back riding on a hunting lease that was not in use due to summertime.

We was riding on the dirt roads crossing through-out the lease, when we came to then end of a road. We then started back the way we had just rode. About quarter to a half mile back I had stopped to look at a dead coral snake I hadnt noticed on the way to the dead end. I was facing towards the dead end, when for some reason I looked up towards the dead end. When from outa no-where a very large animal (creature) cleared the width of the road from left to right with about 15 ft from one edge of the brush line to the other. It was completely covered in hair that was redish-brown in color. I turned to the other riders and asked if they had just seen that. They wasnt turned around like I was and was riding in the opposite direction. I told them I just had seen a bigfoot but they tried to explain it away as a cow or deer. I have never seen a cow clear that much distance even at a dead run, I know deer can but this animal (creature) was upright and I could clearly see the motion of the arms like it had made a running jump.

I kinda got the feeling it was tracking us threw the woods or that when I had looked towards the dead end road that we had just went down that something was watching us. I cant explain why I looked up at that particular moment.

ALSO NOTICED: Well I didnt live in that area I lived in New Caney but was over alot due to my sister and my horse lived on N. Walker R.d. So honestly I had never heard anything previously.

OTHER STORIES: Spooked horses and a terible smell. I have also ridin there on other occasions where I could smell a fowl oder like a wet deer mixed with a dead animal. My neace and her friend was riding once and somthing had spooked the horses and ran back to the house. Both girls where thrown from the horses and they were left walking back to the
house.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: Around 12:00 noon. Clear and sunny day.

ENVIRONMENT: Wooded area but on a well cleared dirt road.

Follow-up investigation report:

I talked to the witness about his sighting. He was adamant about what he saw. I asked him to estimate the distance at which he saw the animal. He basically told me that he was not good at distances, but if he had to guess, it was no closer than a "football field."

The witness remembered seeing the "legs splayed" apart and remembered seeing how the arms were displayed in an outward manner. The sighting happened quickly, but the witness was confident that he saw no deer or any other quadrupedal animal. The creature that he saw, as he recalled, was not leaning forward in the least, and appeared to him to be completely erect in posture. Because of distance, it was difficult for the witness to ascertain height, but the animal was "at least as tall as a man."

Others in his party attempted to convince him otherwise, but the witness remains to this day steadfast in his conviction that he saw a sasquatch.
