LOCATION DETAILS: Can not miss as 550 heads Northwest of Marquette and the landmarks are marked by signs.

OBSERVED: I had just finished a 12 hour shift at work and I was heading home. I always go slow due to the amount of wildlife that you can encounter on the way home. The road is called 550 the road travels northwest out of the city of Marquette. The road runs parallel to Lake superior and many vast areas of dense forest, large rock, and "boggy" areas. There is an area by a large rock cliff called Sugar Loaf mountain hiking area, north of this area along the road on the opposite side of the road is Wetmore Pond area is a "boggy" marsh, a large animal that was covered in brownish/red fur head to toe, long arms and long strides walk/ran fast across the road, stood up on the guard rail and leap down on the other side of the guard rail. Due to the time of night and region I did not stop nor did I look back. It was not a person and it was not a bear. I have seen both and a bear does not run on two legs across the road. I have not reported this before, for fear that people would say yeah right.

ALSO NOTICED: Not that I had heard.

OTHER WITNESSES: Not on my way home.

OTHER STORIES: No.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: The time of day was a late fall night early morning, weather conditions were very cold, frost about 30 degrees F.

ENVIRONMENT: Rock, Forest, Bog area with dense trees. Lake Superior was were the "Creature" was going.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Caroline Curtis:

Investigator Steve Nystrom and I met the witness at the location. She explained that she often observed the local wildlife while driving late hours to and from work which included coyotes, wolves and bears. She knew this animal could only be a bigfoot.

It was about 100 ft. from her vehicle when it crossed. It did not hesitate and it did not look toward her. Steve stood at the guardrail, in comparison height, she estimated at 7 ft., and on the thin side.

We followed the route it may have continued on which was only about 1/4 of a mile before we met Lake Superior and a nature trail. We found different varieties of berry bushes, acorns and chestnuts. Deer sign was seen everywhere, including the remains of a deer on the beach. Large rock outcroppings and cliffs are all along this stretch of Lake Superior.



On the other side of the street where the bigfoot came from is Wetmore Pond with old-growth forest, rugged rock outcroppings and a unique bog habitat. Also known as a deer wintering area.
